The Slc Cgil, union of the CGIL's communication workers, broadcasted a report on the regularization of call centers - which employ about 250.000 people, mostly with precarious contracts - following the incentives of the finance law (law from December 27, 2006), and unions' negotiation. 86% of regularized employees obtained an open-ended contract and calculations plan that in two year this percentage will go up to 98%. However, a majority of these contracts concern part-time jobs, with a salary below 600 euros a month. (Ref. 070602)
On April 30, 2007, about 18.000 operators were “stabilized” in Italian call centers, following the campaign launched by the government (see our story 06984). 16.199 employees were regularized with enforcement of the collective agreement of the telecommunications’ sector (through 50 union agreements) and about 2.000 come from metalworkers’ sector (through 20 union agreements) and services (through 40 union agreements).
