In what is to be a first in Italy, a country in which co-management remains unusual, the company agreement at Vitec Imaging Solutions (formerly Manfrotto), which was signed in April this year with the FIM-Cisl, UILM and FIOM-Cgil trade unions, provides for workers to sit on the board of directors at the company. The agreement constitutes an innovative model for social relations, at a time when the engineering and metal industries look to review their traditional models of production and negotiation, in order to adapt to industry 4.0. Trade unions and company management, which are to meet on a regular basis, will need to agree by the end of January on how the agreement will be implemented in practice.
The company agreement, valid until 31 December 2020, aims to provide a framework for what work will be like in industry 4.0 and to “move beyond old models”. In order to prepare for the future, it is necessary to act “in a synchronised and proactive way, promoting models for social relations that are innovative and adapted to the challenges posed by the market”, as detailed in the agreement’s preamble.
