“Today’s general strike has been a great success in terms of both cooperation and effectiveness”, congratulated Lando Maria Sileoni, leader of Fabi the largest union in the sector. Working together, the banking sector unions organized the strike including: Fabi, Dircredito, Fiba, Cisl, Fisac-CGIL, Sinfub, Ugl, Uilca-Uil and Falcri. The protest follows a breakdown in negotiations with the employers’ body over renewal of the national collective agreement on November 25 2014 (c.f. article No. 87
…Italy: banking sector unions declare their strike action as an “enormous success”
On January 30 more than 90% of banking sector employees took part in a national banking strike. They were protesting the termination of their national banking collective agreement as of April 1 2015 by the employers’ body the ABI in the absence of its renewal. Unions have promised more action if the employers’ body does not shift its position in the next two weeks.
