Susanna Camusso was confirmed as the head of the CGIL at the union’s 17th convention in Rimini on May 6-8, with 953 delegates representing 5.7 million members. The majority approved the general secretary’s communication and conclusions, accepting the contents of her document, “Work determines the future.” Against the attempt to deprive unions of their legitimacy and the representation crisis, she wants to take further action in workplaces and across the country, applying the recent reform of union representativeness, and strengthen unity with the Cisl and Uil, the other two major confederations in Italy.
