A "historical" agreement on the reform of the unique conventional system for the private and the public sector was signed on January 22, 2009 in Rome between the government and the social partners. Only the CGIL union confederation rejected this text, which will replace the agreements signed on July 23, 1993 governing the current social relations system. (Ref. 090080)
After the employers’ confederation Confindustria and the Cisl and Uil unions signed the agreement on the guidelines for the reform of the conventional system in October (see our dispatch No. 080777), the government stepped in to “put a firm end to long negotiations” on the reform of the conventional system. Thus, a unique framework agreement, which includes the system presented by the Confindustria association for the private sector and is completed by special regulations for the public sector,
