On 25 January, Italy’s employers’ body Confindustria signed an agreement with the CGIL, Cisl, and the Uil unions that puts in place a framework agreement addressing workplace harassment and violence, which was concluded in 2007 between BusinessEurope, UEAPME and CEEP on the employers side and the CES on the union side. It reaffirms that harassment and violence at work are ‘unacceptable’ and must be denounced and penalized. The signatories committed to working together to develop working environments that respect the dignity of workers and invited the member companies to adhere to a zero tolerance policy as regards all forms of work related harassment and violence.
Almost nine years were needed instead of an expected three for Italy’s social partners to implement the framework agreement that was signed on 26 April 2007 by BusinessEurope, UEAPME CEEP, and the CES addressing workplace harassment and violence (c.f. article No. 070377).
