Italy: Confindustria, Cgil, Cisl and Uil sign “historical” agreement on union representativeness and democracy

The agreement on union representativeness and democracy signed on May 31 by the three biggest union confederations and the primary employers’ organization defines the modalities for calculating the representativeness of trade unions organizations in order to allow them to take part in national collective agreements.  It also lays down the rules for the validity of these agreements.  Therefore, these new rules should put an end to the practice of separate agreements – meaning those that aren’t signed by all the major union federations in the sector, which makes it complicated to apply the collective agreements at national level.  (Ref.  130367)
