At the end of October, Italian oil and gas group Eni signed an agreement on so-called smart working. Set to enter into force at the end of the state of health emergency, currently set for 31 December 2021, the agreement includes the possibility of remote working for staff at industrial sites, different modes of application according to individuals’ family situation and state of health, as well as a codified right to disconnect.
The agreement signed by Eni and the Filctem-Cgil, Femca-Cisl, Uiltec and UGL trade unions gives new impetus to “smart” or remote working, which was introduced on an experimental basis in 2017 (see article n°10625). From now on, employees in administrative roles, who were already trialling agile working, may opt for such arrangements eight days per month (instead of four).
