Italy: Expo 2015 signs agreement on flexible recruitment modalities
On July 23, Expo 2015 Spa, the company in charge of organizing the 2015 Universal Exposition, which will take place in Milan, signed an “important agreement” with the CGIL, Cisl and Uil unions in Milan (and their respective sectoral federations – Filcams, Fisacat and Uiltucs). It concerns the modalities for recruitment and employment, which will mostly take place via apprenticeship and fixed-term contracts and “flexible” internships. The idea is that this event should be an “opportunity for training and professional guidance” for a lot of young people. It also sets up a system guaranteeing the protection of health and safety in all businesses implied in the operation. Prime Minister Enrico Letta rejoiced with this agreement, saying it is a “national example” to follow, which would confirm that this “major event” will be a “lab for the country.” (Ref. 130508)
