The management accepted unions’ proposition to appeal to solidarity contracts (see our dispatch No. 090235) to reduce the restructuring’s social impact. 90 layoffs will be avoided. For the remaining 160 surplus positions, the agreement plans the appeal to Cassa Integrazione Straordinaria (partial unemployment compensation fund, see our dispatch No. 080932) with three-month shifts. The Mobilita procedure (see our dispatch No. 090029) will mostly affect employees who acquired pension rights in 2009-10. A voluntary leave incentive plan (benefits amounting to 80% of the salary plus a €7,000 bonus) will be considered for positions considered as “redundant.” Working time reduction, for a total of three weeks, will spread over 18 months. Before receiving the permanent consent of the Ministry of Labor, the agreement will have to be approved by the employees.
