Italy: renewal of collective agreement in textile and fashion sector
Following 10 months of negotiations and a 16-hour strike, social partners from the textile, clothing and fashion sector managed to reach a draft agreement on the renewal of their collective agreement. Struck on 21 February, the draft deal will ultimately apply to 420,000 employees from around 40,000 companies, and will apply from 1 April 2016 until 31 December 2019. Though still subject to a consultation with employees, the deal includes an estimated 90-euro monthly wage increase, which compares to the initial union demand of 100 euros.
