The Feneal-Uil, Filca-Cisl and Fillea-Cgil and the employers' federation Federmaco renewed, on February 19, the national collective agreement of the cement, lime and derivatives, plaster, mortar and basic construction materials industries. Effective from February 1, 2008 to December 31, 2011 for the regulation part and to December 31, 2009 for the economic part, the agreement plans, in addition to average 107 euro wage increases, provisions on sustainable development, crystalline silica, and corporate social liability. The three unions are satisfied with their new national collective agreement. For the economic part, they defended an average €107 wage increase divided in three (€50 as of February 1, 2008; €35 as of January 1, 2009, and €22 as of September 1, 2009) and, to compensate for the three months without a national collective agreement, a €200 catch-up bonus (una tantum). For the regulation part, they highlighted important novelties in terms of industrial relations and sustainable development.
