Italy: “simpler” occupational health and safety obligations in the decree-law on “emergency provisions to revive the economy”

Decree-law 69 on emergency provisions to revive the economy “simplifies” employers’ obligations provided for in Act 81/2008 on health and safety at work.  But unions say they are substantial changes that cut into workers’ protection and could have a negative impact on security in the workplace.  The decree came into force on June 22 and will be sent to Parliament before becoming a law.  (Ref.  130429)

Decree No. 69 on “emergency provisions to revive the economy” was published in issue No. 144 of the Gazzetta Ufficiale of June 21 after the Council of Ministers approved it on June 15.
