Italy : the FIOM-CGIL held the first national assembly of staff representatives for security

200 RIS – staff representatives dedicated to security – took part, on July 13, in Rome, in the national assembly organized by the Italian metallurgy union federation (FIOM). The goal is to build a network and coordinate these representatives' activities so that the most innovative experiences can serve as an example, but also to discuss appropriate strategies and tools of information and consultation to enrich their skills, enable them to be autonomous, or even to organize and strengthen their intervention within metallurgy companies. Over 550 dead and over 500.000 serious wounded because of industrial accidents were recorded since the beginning of the year in Italy, reminded Giorgio Cremachi, the FIOM’s national secretary.
