On September 24, 2014, Raffaele Bonanni head of the Cisl union since 2006 submitted his resignation saying his decision was motivated by the need for internal renewal “necessary in these times of political and economic change”. He submitted his early resignation to the organization’s secretariat and nominated deputy secretary general Anna Maria Furlan as his successor.
