On 13 April, Italian Minister for Labor, Giuliano Poletti announced the signature of a decree allowing the application of a rule introduced in the 2016 Finance law that allows workers with less than three years before retirement to work on a part-time basis.
This is measure is on a trial basis and currently affects private sector workers working full-time on permanent employment contracts with at least twenty years of social security contributions and who satisfy specific age criteria by 31 December 2018. * The trial will thus affect some 400,000, who will be able, upon their employers’ agreement ,to reduce their working time by between 40% and 60%. The employers will pay these employees the equivalent of their social security contributions amounts
