The independent union Dircredito and Fiba-Cisl announced their merger, creating a new union within the Cisl (Confederation of Trade Unions in Italy), named FIRST (Italian Federation Network for the Tertiary Sector). This is the first merger of its kind in the banking sector. Within Dircredito, however, the merger is being contested.
“These two unions, the stories of which are different but certainly convergent and complementary, have made the brave decision to seize the current change in the credit sector in Italy”, Giulio Romani, leader of the Fiba (the federation of banking and insurance unions), stated.
