With the “crisis getting worse,” the Cgil, Cisl and Uil unions decided to stand united again. Their first commitment in this direction, validated the day before May Day, was to decide on unitary mobilization at regional level, ending with a national demonstration in Rome on June 22, to support the proposals the trade unions sent the new government. The three confederations also agreed on the principles of the new union representation system. The traditional celebration of labor, characterized by unity across the country, was also extended to local employers in Treviso and Bologna. (Ref. 130298)
For the first time in five years, the managements of the Cgil, Cisl and Uil met in Rome, on April 30. The joint document they released sets the three confederations’ joint priorities to get out of the crisis, lists mobilizations to achieve it and principles on union representation.
