On September 11, in Milan, the FederlegnoArredo employers’ organization and the Fillea CGIL Filca-Cisl and Feneal-Uil unions signed an agreement renewing the national collective agreement (CCN) in the wood and furniture industry, expired in March. It covers about 370,000 employees in 70,000 businesses. Valid between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2016, it increases union involvement in the company’s decisions, notably on working time and recruitment, and provides for a new code of conduct on moral harassment, as well as a “Charter of Values” on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Working time… The agreement allows businesses to adopt working hours that derogate from the CCN after consulting and agreeing with the Unitary union representation bodies (RSU) or, when there are none, local unions. However, it provides that if the talks don’t commence within 7 days of the company’s request, the company may proceed alone, adjusting the weeks according to its needs with provisions that may be higher or lower than the conventional standard.
