The overwhelming majority Fiat wanted to go through with its restructuring plan for the Pomigliano d’Arco site, subject to a separate agreement signed on June 15th by the Fim-Cisl, Uilm-Uil, Fismic and UGL unions (see our dispatch No. 100480), didn’t take place. During the referendum organized yesterday, June 22nd, by the Italian carmaker an the signatory unions, out of 4,642 participants (95% of the 4,881 workers with a vote), 62.2% voted yes, while 36% voted no. at Nola, there was actually a majority of no votes: 192, against 77 yes votes. Created by Fiat in 2008, initially to send workers with reduced working capacities, many consider this pole as the place where Fiat “relegates” confrontational workers. Fiat explained that it would “work with the trade unions that took responsibility for the agreement” to define, with them, “the necessary governance conditions to achieve future plans.”
