In Lithuania parents on parental leave with babies under 1 year old might soon have a right to work part-time job and be entitled to parental allowance. (Ref. 070325)

According to current Sickness and maternity social insurance law, parents with babies under 1 year old who start part-time job automatically loose their parental allowance, but Lithuanian Parliament last week approved amendment to this law, that would come into effect on 1st of July. Then, the parental allowance will be proportional to a length of part-time working hours. These changes aim at protecting young parents from loosing their professional skills.
