Luxembourg: towards a reform of the industrial accident-occupational disease insurance

The Government Council gave an agreement in principle, on May 2, 2008, for the bill reforming the accident insurance which supports industrial accidents and occupational diseases. "Given the scope and the complexity of the reform, it will only come into effect on January 1, 2010," the government said "and the new compensation modalities will only apply for accidents and occupational diseases which happen or are declared after that date". The main novelty in this bill is the matching of the compensation with the ordinary law benefit, which compensates the loss of income and other damages separately.
