While events for 01 May events may be cancelled due to Covid-19, trade union organizations nonetheless want to celebrate Labor Day more than ever. In France, several organizations have called on supporters to express their expectations and in particular as regards the world of tomorrow by displaying placards and banners on the balconies of their homes and by mobilizing across the social networks. In Spain, the CCOO and UGT unions have called for a demonstration on social networks from 13hr30 after both union leaders have completed presenting their demands. Throughout the day, debates and press conferences will be broadcast on their websites and social networks. A virtual concert will take place at 17hr, in honor of all workers, and especially those in essential services. A second concert to celebrate all workers is planned for 20h05, following what is now the ritual applause given in thanks to those who are taking risks to ensure the smooth running of society. In Sweden, too, the LO is promising to have several events and notices on its Facebook page. In Italy, the Cgil, Cisl and Uil unions, which every year organize a huge 01 May evening concert in one of Rome’s city squares, will maintain the event, however this year it will be broadcast on TV and will take place without an audience. Earlier in the day, the three leaders of these organizations will take part in a TV program devoted to the themes of work, the resumption of production and the health-crisis. With the prospect of being able to resume mass gatherings appearing remote, trade unionism are having to find other ways to mobilize and create a show of force.
