On 6 March, committees of the Mexican Senate approved a proposal to reform paternity leave, extending the allowance from five to 20 working days. Paternity leave may also be extended to 30 days in the event of “complications after childbirth detrimental to the mother or the newborn”, on presentation of a medical certificate.
