Three large strikes have been disturbing Mexican mines for eight months. In addition to wage claims, miners are pleading for an enhancement of safety conditions, two years after the accident which caused 65 deaths in Coahuila. The strip copper mine of Cananea, in the State of Sonora, has been on strike since July 30, 2007. More to the south, in the mines of Guerrero and Zacatecas, two other conflicts have also been lasting for eight months.
