Netherlands: 5 percent wage increase for Transavia’s ground staff

Transavia’s 600 ground staff will get a 3 percent structural increase in addition to two bonuses, in May 2012 and in May 2013, amounting to 1 percent of annual income.  This agreement answers the claims of the Dutch Labor Federation and Allies (FNV Bondgenoten).  This 5 percent increase covers the period between May 1, 2011 and April 30, 2013.  The provisions on night work also changed: maximum mandatory service goes from 75 to 80 nights a year, and maximum voluntary night shifts go from 80 to 95 a year.  Employees over the age of 55 will get an additional day off after a night shift of at least 2 nights if they do at least 70 nights a year.  Employees over 60 will get two additional days off under the same conditions.  Negotiations dragged on and last for a year before succeeding, with KLM-Air France’s profit dropping.  However, a 6 percent productivity increase for Transavia’s ground staff gave unions a major argument.
