Netherlands: a contested bonus leave for Numico’s chair after the takeover by Danone

Dutch unions are protesting against an 80-million euros bonus leave, qualified of "strange and absurd", Danone is going to pay Jan Bennink, CEO of Numico, a company of child food bought over by the French group on July 9. (Ref. 070643)

Once the fusion realized, Jan Bennink is indeed going to receive an 80-million euros golden handshake, for good and faithful service, during five years at the head of a group which realized a net 1.353-billion euros benefit in 2006. According to the calculations made by the Federation of Dutch unions (FNV) this bonus would bring Jan Bennink’s daily salary up to 64.000 euros, twice the average annual wage of Numico’s Dutch employees, which employs 13.000 people throughout about a hundred countri
