Netherlands: “central” social plan at Philips

While debates were blocked since October, an agreement in principle was found on October 23rd on the next social plan at Philips. This "central" social plan concerns the 17 000 employees of the electronic group in the Netherlands, as well as the 6 000 employees of NXP, a subsidiary 80% sold to a consortium of investors, in October. The main point of the social plan, explains Ron van Baden, delegate of the FNV Bondgenoten trade union confederation, concerns efforts approved by management to preserve the jobs of employees hit by ongoing restructurings.
