According to a survey published on 12th July by the research firm Blauw Research, commissioned by Randstad, an Amsterdam recruitment agency, the new life-cycle savings plan (levensloopregeling) which enables employees to finance their own early retirement, has got off to a good start. (Ref. 06734)
Whilst the insurance sector was expecting a slow take-up, with 5% to 10% of the 7 million Dutch employees contracting a savings plan in 2006, 9.3% of the 1,200 people questioned by Blauw Research have already subscribed. Higher-paid employees are the most enthusiastic. No less than 20% of people earning more than 60,000 euros per year have begun saving in this way, compared with 7.7% of people earning around 30,000 euros per year and 7% on lower incomes.
