The management's fears are confirmed : the lack of workforce in the metallurgy, electric engineering and transport equipment is hampering growth in these three sectors (11% in December as opposed to 6% for the industry in general). In January, 10% of factories making items in iron, steel or aluminum were concerned. The available workforce is getting older and older. Between 1996 and 2005, the portion of people between 15 and 34 working in these sectors went from 50% to 33% of the workforce. As the portion of people over 45, it went from 25% to 35%.
