A survey carried out among 565 people by the Department for Labor and Social Affairs shows than one in four viewers on www.ikkan.nl/talentenvertaler (I can/talent translator) finds more opportunities on the labor market after using the tools proposed online. A “talent translator” notably allowed one in five users to better see which job is fit for them. Besides, one in ten started concrete action after consulting “ikkan.” The Department for Labor and Social Affairs launched this campaign in November 2009, in partnership with the unemployment insurance (UWV), which provides real job offers for the site. The objective of this campaign, which also took the form of commercials and bills, is to limit the impact of the crisis on the employment market. The government wants to combat preconceived ideas jobseekers, notably the young, have about their own skills and the possibilities offered by the labor market. The site proposes a little extra for jobseekers: a “talent card,” a value form they can attach to their resumes when they apply for a job. It also publishes any useful information on the initiatives launched throughout the country to contain unemployment, notably among young disabled workers.
