Employees from the three factories of which Unilever announced the closure in October in the Netherlands - in Delft, Loosdrecht and Vlaardingen - are thinking about starting their own business. This unprecedented initiative, announced on January 18, was negotiated by the Federation of Dutch Unions and Allies (FNV Bondgenoten) as part of the redundancy plan for Unilever's 474 employees who are going to loose their job. The goal pursued by the FNV Bondgenoten, which organized one month of slowdown strike in October, consists in ending with no dismissals at all. Job security until 2011 for Unilever’s 4.300 employees was finally secured, on November 10, 2007.
