Started on 24 April, strike action in the hospitality sector finally came to a close with an agreement between the employers’ confederation, NHO, and employers in tourism (NHO Reiseliv) on the one hand, and the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) with the private sector union Fellesforbundet on the other. Unions are pleased with an agreement that formalizes the importance of local level negotiations, which should allow for unions to gain a foothold in hotels and restaurants. However this strike action has proved to be costly for all involved.
