Norway: competitiveness and equal treatment at the center of wage negotiations in 2010

The Norwegian system is based on an old and long-established tradition of tripartite cooperation between the State and the social partners. Actually, they all agree on the quality of their relations. The making up of the wage grid is a good example of the Norwegian system that seeks to reconcile the national economic interest and workers’ rights. Its terms come from central negotiations leading to national agreements between unions and employers’ organizations. The agreements are renewed every other year and March 2010 is the beginning of new talks.
