Norway: new agreement in logistics and freight provides for new night work organization

The agreement signed on May 13 has removed the strike threat in cargo and freight transport, particularly in the Schenker Norway, Tollpost Glob and DHL international firms. In the end, the Logistikk- og Transportindustriens landsforening employers' organization (LTL, Norwegian Logistics and Freight Association) and the Norsk Transportarbeiderforbund union (Norwegian Transport Workers' Union) agreed on a new wage agreement applicable from April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2014. It provides for an hourly increase of NOK 5.25 (EUR 0.70) and, most importantly, sets up a new night work organization by way of experiment. (Ref. 120357)

Joint basis for Schenker and freight (spedisjonsavtalet) agreements. Negotiations led to two different agreements with a joint basis: The “Schenker” agreement applies to the Norwegian logistics group, and a “spedisjonsavtalet” agreement dealing with freight as well as loading/unloading in ports, a strategic activity in the region. These agreements will run between April 1, 2012 and March 31, 2014. They can be terminated after one year and a two-month notice.
