The NHO Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise and the LO union met to talk about pay deals for 2013. While they agree that employees' buying power should be maintained, their notions are slightly different. Besides, other topics were added to the negotiations, and the parties need to reach an agreement by April 8 if they want to avoid a strike. (Ref. 130219)
Respecting buying power and the pension issue for LO. LO acknowledges that buying power was maintained between 2011 and 2012, even improved. For the union, the point is to protect purchasing power for all, to combine central negotiations and higher minimum wage, to set up structural measures leading to equal pay, to give priority to central negotiations in civil service where most employees as women, and to give priority to equal pay in the sectors concerned.
