Polish workers immigrated in Great Britain now have their own union embedded in this country. It was co-created by "Solidarnosc" and the GMB, the third big British union, affiliated to the TUC (Trade Union Congress). (Ref. 061104)
“It was vital to help immigrants deal with their situation!” explains Paulina Tomasik who is in charge of the new union. The latter has its main office in Southampton, 200,000 inhabitants and 30,000 Polish immigrants. The contribution is 3.35 euros a week. The first negotiations started in the beginning of 2006.
