Parents of premature babies who are hospitalised after birth will soon benefit from additional maternity leave of between eight and 15 weeks, depending on the length of hospitalisation, the week of pregnancy during which the child was born and the child’s birth weight. On 24 May, the minister for the family, labour and social policy, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, presented a bill aimed at extending the duration of maternity leave by between eight and 15 weeks when a child is born prematurely or requires a longer hospital stay. This additional leave will benefit both mother and father, and will be covered at 100% by social security.
