The bill, aiming at adapting Polish legislation to the Community law, establishes the rule of equal treatment in several matters, including access to work, social security and trade union activity. It defines also what acts or situations constitute violation to right of equal treatment. Apart from direct and indirect discrimination, harassment, less favourable treatment of pregnant women, failure to adapt workplace to the needs of disabled persons is mentioned. It is also planned to create an Office for Equal Treatment, which role would be to co-ordinate different activities in this field, provide for assistance for individuals and institutions, propose and give opinion on legal acts, monitor situation in the country, involve in research and informative activities concerning equal treatment. The bill also provides for the right to obtain compensation in case of violation of a right to equal treatment.
