Poland: permanent adoption of the new anti-crisis act

On May 21, the government adopted the law on employment protection during economic slowdown (so-called ‘new anticrisis law’). The text mostly aims to prolong the short-time working support system introduced in 2009 and expired in December 2011.  However, eligibility criteria for enterprises have been relaxed, as well as administrative procedures needed to receive State subsidies.  The second chapter of the anticrisis package (on flexible working time) should be introduced in Parliament soon.  (Ref.  130365)

The law foresees two provisions aimed at employment protection: economic standstill and working time reduction. In both cases employee is entitled to a salary that equals at least minimum salary (at present 1 600 PLN, approx. 370 EUR).
