With the legislative elections under a month away, the election’s front-runner, the ruling national-conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party’s election program has dropped a bombshell policy measure. If re-elected the ruling majority party has promised a significant staged increase in the minimum salary. Employers have been quick to react.
Currently set at PLN 2,250 (€519), the PiS is looking for the minimum salary level to rise to PLN 3,000 (€692) by the end of 2020, and to PLN 4,000 (€922) by the end of 2023. “Salaries will rise because the minimum salary will be increased (…). Public sector salaries will also rise. In addition we will drive an active dynamic economic policy that curbs unemployment and creates a better labor market, which together with economic growth will push private sector salaries upwards,” wrote the PiS in
