According to the data published by the Central Statistical Office, some improvements in the situation on the labour market in Poland can be observed. In the 2nd quarter of 2006, the employment rate was 46.1 %, up 1.2% from the 2nd quarter of 2006. (Ref. 061046)
The umber of registered unemployed in the 2nd quarter of 2006 was 2 487 600. The unemployment rate was 16%, down 1.8% in six months and 2% over a year.
55.4% of the unemployed are women. Such factors as advancement of restructurings and privatisation processes in the national economy or uneven socio-economic development of the regions may influence unemployment rates. Although differences between the regions can still be noticed, the number of registered unemployed is provided in all regions. N
