Portugal: outsourcing sector signs code of conduct

Competence, transparency and better working conditions. The signatories accepted to only commit for service contracts for which they are directly competent. They also adopted a confidentiality clause to use customers and collaborators’ information. Regarding transparency, the signatories promised to sign written contracts mentioning the goals pursued and the prices charged for the services proposed. Finally, the code contains several elements concerning collaborators and employees from outsourcing firms (chapter 1 article 6). Thus, outsourcing businesses commit to comply with the legal obligations of the labor contract. They commit to guarantee equal opportunities for all and pay salaries matching the position. Vocational training has to be improved and businesses have to encourage their collaborators to adopt polite and loyal attitudes in industrial relations. Outsourcing businesses have to consider that their duty is to develop best practices regarding working conditions (hygiene, health, safety).
