The French chemistry group Rhodia (15.000 employees) and the International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers' Unions (ICEM) signed, on march 25, 2008, the renewal of the agreement on "social responsibility" signed in 2005 (see our "tools" section). The new text strengthens union rights, and the follow-up of the agreement, and puts it in line with the group's approach of corporate social responsibility. (Ref. 080333)
The new agreement completes the list of ILO conventions which the group commits to respect (ILO convention No. 135 on forced labor and ILO convention No. 182 on the worst forms of child labor) and adds a commitment in terms of occupational health and safety, taking into account “principles of the ILO’s directives on HIV/AIDS and of the labor world to inform employees and their representatives about this epidemic, along with the ICEM.” In addition, the new agreement provides for the creation of
