The battle led by Rio Tinto-Alcan's employees to keep their centers of excellence in Europe is not over. Even though Alcan's staff representatives met with the European Commission, they are mainly supported by the MEPs. (Ref. 080440)

After Rio Tinto’s POB over Alcan at the end of 2007, the company will announce, in the beginning of June, the closure of the “machine-finished products” and “packaging” units.
