While on 21 September Russian President Vladimir Putin declared the partial mobilization of Russian army reservists, the government is in the process of organizing itself amid discontent and the impact of sanctions on the national economy. Two measures illustrate this in the area of labour and employment. First is the guarantee of continued employment for those conscripted to the forces and second is the extension of the system that allows the temporary transfer of employees from companies that have suspended their business activities to other companies.
On 19 September, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishoustin signed an extension until June 2023 of the scheme that was introduced in April 2022 allowing employees to keep their permanent contracts while working for another company.
