Created in 1995, the world committee of the Swedish firm, world leader in mechanical bearings, met in early September on SKF's Austrian site in Steyr. Questioned by Planet Labor, Josef Brandstotter, President of the works council of SKF-Austria, and Robert Steiert of the International Federation of iron and steel workers organizations (IMF) evaluated the work and operations of one of the first worldwide works councils created with the assistance of the IMF. The SKF world union committee of the Swedish multinational met from September 8 to 12 on the Steyr site in Austria for the thirteenth time in its history: “In fact, at SKF, there has been a world committee since 1975.
