The Parliament adopted an amendment to the Labor Code which prevents employers from having their employees work in retail sales, including assimilated tasks, on January 1, Easter Sunday, December 24 after noon and December 25. (Ref. 080485)
However, the Labor Code plans an exception to this restriction. The rule doesn’t apply to gas stations, drugstores, airports, harbors, public transportation and hospitals, regarding tickets and souvenirs sales.
The three MPs who proposed the bill explained that they were inspired by western European countries where retail sales are forbidden on national holidays, but also on Sundays and even on Saturday night. However, they are not yet considering prohibiting retail sales on Sundays. One of the
