On October 16, 2014 the National Council of the Slovak Republic passed law No. 304/2014 Coll. that treats certain aspects of whistleblowing and which came into force on January 01, 2015. The law protects whistleblowers from unwarranted sanctions by employers retaliating against their employees who have in good faith reported their employer’s crimes or anti-social activities that they have become aware of during their work.
Employer internal reporting systems. The law sets out several employer obligations aimed at protecting employees in the company’s internal reporting system. Overall, each employer with at least 50 employees is required to:
a) adopt internal rules for handling employee reports
b) set out methods for submitting reports one of which must be available 24 hours a day
c) appoint a person in charge of the employer’s responsibilities for the procedure that handles reports of employer antisocial activit
