The Slovene Parliament enacted a law (by amending the Fiscal Balance Act) that will significantly increase costs of student work with a view to reducing differences between regular work and student work. In Slovenia student work is a special category of work carried out by bona fide students (high-school or university) generally between 15 and 26 years of age (university students with a valid student status can also be older than 26). These students are hired by specialist temporary work agencies. Slovene jurisprudence maintains that ‘student work’ comes under the official employment category.
